FISH - Scripture reflections

I got behind one day on posting reflections so here is two days worth.

Matthew 2:13-23:  There is a time to leave.  Listen to God to help you know when.

Matthew 3:1-12:  I  like John the Baptist - he is crazy, confrontational, and yet humble.  He knows he is not the main event.  How many leaders destruct because they lack humility?

Acts 2:22-47:  The core message of the church:  Jesus was sent from God, did mighty works, died on cross, and was raised from the Dead (Love the verse:  It was impossible for death to hold him!).  This reality requires reaction:  Repent, be baptized, live in community, learn, share, pray.

Acts 3-4:  Use the miracle moment to tell who is behind the miracle.  And here is great hint about authenticity - when someone is claiming to do miracles, who’s message is getting out?

Psalm 4;  Live by verse 4:  In your anger, do not sin!

Psalm 5:  love verse 3 - In the morning lay your requests before God.  It changes the day!

Genesis 9:  Look away from sin.

Gen. 11:  The people of Babel sought to make name for themselves.  Now, nobody remembers their name, only that they began the confusion that separates people to this day.

Gen. 12:  Abram has to finish the journey his father, Terah, didn’t finish.  Because he does, he receives the promise.

Gen. 13:  Be strong and let the other guy pick first.  More important than getting things to your advantage is getting things right.

Gen. 14:  Abram remains loyal to Lot.  Loyalty means going to bat or to war for those you love.
