A great day yesterday! I think Michael Smalley really helped us think about our families in spiritual terms. His message about spiritual warfare reminded me it’s not just bad influences on our kids or our families - there is a real live battle to distract us and discourage us from following after God.
His lines that really stuck with me:
“This is the price of your mediocrity” - God speaking to him when his son was discovered stealing.
“Michael, it’s entirely your fault” -Remark of the counselor when Michael said he thought his son’s issues could be partly his fault.
“A pack of Rottweilers is after your family” - Further remarks of the counselor talking about Spiritual warfare.
“Do you pray over your children?” Yes, but not enough.
One more comment that stuck with me:
“Pray for my friend - she’s in love with the streets. We couldn’t find her to bring her this morning but we brought her children.” What one lady said to me right after the third service. Anybody think only Jesus is the answer for that desperate soul?
We printed 600 copies of “Family Imperfect.” As of Sunday night, we had given out 595! Wow. Hats off the Chris and Angie who made it happen!
Strong attendance, lots of first time guests - with no ads on TV or in the paper. All word of mouth. Hmmmm…. I’d say God’s people did their job!
